It is a few days ago the news that the Düsseldorf boat show, after postponements and the cancellation of the participation of some large shipyards and boat manufacturers worldwide, it was canceled in its January edition 2022.

The cause of the cancellation is mainly linked to the restriction measures in the region where the well-known fair is held, which provide for a maximum number of participants in trade fairs.

It is also true that it was already known in the weeks preceding the confirmation of the absence in this year's planned edition of many important construction sites, that were no longer on the exhibitor list. A reduced edition was therefore planned for the Salone, with many exhibitors mainly associated with water sports, to fishing, clothing, and related sectors.

It is the second consecutive year that this important exhibition, important showcase for many shipyards and for boating enthusiasts is canceled.

It is clear that the alternation of pandemic phases related to covid-19 does not help the holding of a fair that typically takes place in January, and therefore in winter, where generally for natural epidemiological reasons, the number of infections rises.

Any fair that takes place in different seasons certainly benefits from this.

Among these, the Genoa boat show is undoubtedly an example of this, taking place in September, in a period even earlier than the historic dates of early October of the past years.

Comparison with other international nautical fairs

Indeed, throughout the pandemic phase, still in progress, the Genoa fair, thanks also to the new wise management of Confindustria in recent years, and thanks also to its scheduling, he was able to experience two seasons of excellence, returning to reapply for an international exhibition, both for the presence of prestigious exhibitors and for the number of attendees.

The current state, as many other salons have attempted, certainly a new schedule also for the Düsseldorf boat show, in our opinion, it would be useful and would allow a better organization of both the fair and the planned investment of each exhibitor, especially of those who to participate must book stands of large size and engage with the display of boats of considerable length.
